This review article deals with a monograph on the indirect object in Spanish, Silvia Becerra Bascunan's (2006) Estudio diacronico y sincronico del objeto indireto en el espanal peninsular y de America ("A diachronic and synchronic study of the indirect object in Peninsular Spanish and in Latin America"). The book offers a many-faceted analysis of the indirect object, as it, on the one hand, gives a detailed diachronic analysis of what is known as clitic-doubled constructions &, on the other, a synchronic analysis of both predicative constructions with an indirect object & the relationship between the notion of perspective & the indirect object.
