• The present study deals with the effects of transformation processes in the society upon families and schools. The first part presents the authors ideas on the family; its role in the society of the end of the 20th century includi ng the changes which take place inside the families social-economic situation, ...The second part has been devoted to school. The evaluation of basic school by the pubic, the influence of labour market on school, (and families) the changes which take place in school environment and social climate in schools have been dealt with. The last part is devoted to the relations between families and schools. The tendency of opening schools to the public has been il lustrated on the examples from abroad (USA, France, Poland). The author analyses problems seen in this interaction and illustrates them on his own research results. (DIPF/Abstract übernommen).
