The issue of whether autobiographical accounts have a form of authenticity different from biographical life-history accounts is investigated. An overview of the author's methodology in teaching a graduate-level course on narrative & ethnography directs specific attention to explaining assignments that required students to complete autobiographical accounts & perform life-history interviews to illustrate issues frequently overlooked in methods courses. Although the analysis of students' autobiographies & life histories revealed identical or compatible themes & plot lines, it is noted that significant variations in the forms of representation were displayed in some students' writings. It is speculated that such variations can be primarily attributed to the different communication structures intrinsic to autobiographical & life-history forms of writing. The need to reconsider the inherent qualities of certain forms of representation, especially autobiography & life-history writing, is expressed. 11 References. J. W. Parker
