Beschreibungen/Notizen
During the 19th century, the American government moved the Chemehuevi Indians from their homes in Arizona and California. They lost their ancestral lands, cemeteries, and hunting grounds. With this loss, they forgot their culture and dispersed and could no longer be called a tribe. In the 20th century, architect Pierre Koenig was at the forefront of the movement to reorganize the Chemehuevi. He helped to build a modern reservation and thus helped them to reestablish their identity.
