The immigrant Russian writers Vasilii Aksenov, Zinovii Zinik and Iosif Brodskii reveal Vladimir Nabokov's influence in their fascination with bilingual word play. The Russian writers chose to write in English for varied reasons. The acquisition of a new language seems to make them particularly sensitive to the various connotations and the sound similarities. Zinik's 'The Russian Service' serves as an example of such word play. The poet Brodskii is considered to be most comparable to the novelist Nabokov, even though their genres are different.
