• The present article intends to offer a reasoned review of the whole question of the Italian years of Quevedo to get to outline a profile, as reliable as possible, of the poet's performance in the service of Viceroy Osuna. For this, the author begins by reviewing the main bibliography inherent to the subject, to offer, later, an essential reconstruction of the frigid historical environment related to such experience; then, he goes on to recapitulate the milestones of Quevedo's stay in the two viceroyal courts, until he focuses his attention on the works of Quevedo, as testimonies of his role in the indicated context. In this sense, the correspondence Quevediano of those years and, particularly, the correspondence maintained with the Duke of Osuna takes special interest.
