• The question of tradition in catholic theology can find many suggestion in resarch of other fields. Here the investigations of J. Assmann concerning the cultural memory in Egypt, Israel, the Hittites and Greece deepens important elements of christian understanding of tradition-process. On the other side the christian idea of tradition can help to see the wider dimension of interrelation between living tradition and written documentation.
