This chapter describes and justifies the components used to adapt the kinematics of the engine‐receiver for applications in aeronautics and automotive fields. It discusses the transmission system for rotating wings, aircraft, and automobiles. In practice, there are several operating rotational velocities, corresponding to different operating phases: nominal, ground idle, and take‐off phases. In the case of a turboprop, the turbine velocity is higher than the permissible propeller speeds. Turboprop reducers can maintain coaxiality between the turbine axis and the propeller. For piston combustion engines, it is necessary to have a variable reduction ratio. This can be achieved by sequential transmissions (multiple gears) with epicyclic or conventional gear rates; and continuously variable transmissions with a metal belt in an oil bath. The multi‐speed transmission having several gears would allow high speed operation in areas of higher efficiency.
