The imagery of family is widely tied to the success of Asian immigrants in the United States. And like other Asians, Indian immigrants themselves consider traditional family values to be a cornerstone of their culture, and a key distinguishing feature between themselves and Americans (Chen 1992; Kibria 1993; Bacon 1996; Park 1997).
