Interference functions have been obtained from alloys containing Cu-36 at% Ge, Cu-80 at% Ge and Cu-90 at% Ge at 660, 920 and 933 degrees C, respectively, by x ray diffraction. It has been found that the assumption of concentration independence of the partial interference function between copper and germanium, I CuGe (K), is not valid over wide differences of composition. As the concentration changes I CuGe (K) changes to become similar to the partial interference function of the pure component which has the largest atomic concentration.
