  • The author argues that spatial environmental contradictions are inevitable in the interaction, interpenetration and coexistence of the two environments: natural and artificial. Reasons for the emergence of these contradictions are outlined considering the difference in the fundamental principles of origin of the natural environment origin interpreted as architecture and the artificial environment interpreted as natural. The underlying cause of such contradictions is identified as arising out incompatibility between the inner structures of nature and architecture - incompatibility between their functional directionality and purpose. The study provided an insight into the initial antecedents of the contradictions and the emergence of a theory of spatial environmental contradictions. The latter are defined as totally ecological, advancing to the forefront in contexts where modern-day urban ecology problems are being addressed.
