In the article there are presented hypotheses, results and conclusions of the research into Higher School of Education students' preparation for creative work. The research has cognitive as well as practical value. The article starts with the presentation of the most important problems of modern teacher training theories and the definition of the place and role that students' preparation for creative work occupy among them. Then, basing on the research outcomes, the author evaluates the performance of the Higher Schools of Education with respect to the development of creative attitudes among future teachers. She also evaluates students' predispositions in this respect. The main conclusion, however, is that Higher Schools of Education fail to develop to a sufficient degree attitudes among their students and, what is more, these problems are neglected in teacher training curricula.
