Highlights • Aetiology of relationship between anxiety sensitivity and anxiety is unclear. • We examined this longitudinal association in twin sample (8 and 10 years). • Anxiety sensitivity was broadly associated with all anxiety subtypes over time. • Twin analyses revealed genetic stability of these longitudinal associations. • Non-shared environment had unique and time-specific influence on variables.
