Abstract
Populus Dei: The Question of the "Volkskirche" [People's Church] [1937]. The article argues against any attempt to take the German nation or its unity as a norm for church. The reformation theology concept of the "people of God" is very helpful for appreciating that the "Volkskirche" is to be well distinguished from the "people of God". The church has a mission to everyone in a nation beyond denominational boundaries, but is itself founded solely on baptism and the Word of God
