  • Reviewed by Richard Duffey, MD Orlando, FL- Results of the 2011 survey of U.S. members of the International Society of Refractive Surgery [ISRS) show some continuation of previous trends regarding increasing use of techniques and technology that may increase the safety of laser vision correction CLVQ , and for the second year in a row, the data show a very small rise in LVC case volume, said Richard Duffey, MD, at Refractive Surgery 2011, the annual meeting of the ISRS. [...]if they were going to use a presbyopia- cor ree ting IOL, a multifocal IOL was preferred over an accommodating IOL (15% versus 3%). "Since 2005, the multifocal IOL has always been preferred over the accommodating IOL, but compared with 2010, the ratio of surgeons preferring the multifocal IOL to the accommodating IOL is greater due to a small increase in the proportion who would choose a multifocal IOL and a bigger decrease in the proportion who would choose an accommodative implant.
