• An introductory essay to a new Italian translation (ed. Fabrizio Crivello; tr. Francesca Pistone) of Otto Pächt's "Early Italian nature studies and the early calendar landscape" ("Journal of the Warburg and Courtauld Institutes," 1950), recounts the author's person experience with Pächt (1902-1988) and his scholarship, as well as providing background on Pächt's studies of late Gothic manuscript illumination, and his discoveries of previously unknown Italian manuscripts and illuminators published in his 1950 essay.
