• [Method] A new simple, rapid and sensitive method for simultaneous determination of two amadori compounds, arginyl-fructose (AF) and arginyl-fructosyl-glucose (AFG), in extracts of three kinds of ginseng preparations was developed and validated using high performance liquid chromatography with evaporative light scattering detector (HPLC-ELSD). The conditions of pre-column derivatization HPLC method are very complicated, including selectivity and quantification of derivatization reaction and detection of derivatization reagents, reaction conditions and stability of products, which do not favor direct and rapid determination of amino acids1151, and indirect chromatography is not suitable for pharmaceutical analysis of amino acids1161. Up to now, there is no report of simultaneous determination of Amadori compounds in complex matrix such as natural herbal extracts by high performance liquid chromatography with evaporative light scattering detector.
