• This article provides insight into Mexico’s experience with network diplomacy by highlighting the role of the Directorate General for Liaison with Civil Society Organizations within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We take the Directorate as coordination central or a focal point for channeling specific interests on the part of civil‐society organizations to different areas within the ministry dealing with multilateral issues, which facilitates and keeps a track record of growing demands for inclusive diplomacy. Our research takes stock of legal–institutional provisions for the Directorate, and its outreach activities from 2012–2018; it includes a brief examination of its engagement with civil‐society organizations in the design of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. We find evidence of an evolution of network diplomacy in Mexico, and the intensification of the role of the Directorate. Meanwhile, the shift toward network diplomacy challenges more traditional understandings of Mexican diplomacy in a wider context of rapid change and proliferation of civil‐society organizations seeking to participate in global governance. Este artículo analiza la puesta en práctica de la diplomacia en red en México, a partirdel papel de la Dirección General de Vinculación con las Organizaciones de la Sociedad Civil de la Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores. Tomamos a la Dirección como punto de coordinación para canalizar los intereses específicos de las organizaciones de la sociedad civil a diferentes áreas dentro de la secretaría que se ocupan de los asuntos multilaterales. Esta investigación hace un balance de las disposiciones legales–institucionales para la Dirección y sus actividades de divulgación durante el período 2012–2018; incluye un breve examen de su compromiso con las organizaciones de la sociedad civil en el contexto del diseño de la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible. Concluimos que se evidencia la evolución de la diplomacia en red en México y la intensificación del papel de la Dirección en el mismo. Simultáneamente, el cambio hacia la diplomacia en red desafía los entendimientos más tradicionales de la diplomacia mexicana en un contexto más amplio de rápido cambio y proliferación de organizaciones de la sociedad civil que buscan participar en temas de gobernanza global. 本文通过强调公民社会组织联络总局 (隶属外交部) 发挥的作用, 为墨西哥在网络外交方面的经历提供见解。我们将总局视为一个协调中心或焦点, 它把公民社会组织的特殊利益导向外交部旗下用于应对多边问题的不同区域。这促进了包容性外交, 同时记录了不断增加的包容性外交需求。我们的研究盘点了总局在立法‐制度方面的规定, 及其在 2012 年至 2018 年期间的外展活动；研究浅析了在设计2030年可持续发展议程一事上总局与公民社会组织之间的接触。我们发现了有关墨西哥网络外交发展、总局作用得以强化等相关证据。同时, 在“试图参与全球治理的公民社会组织发生快速变化和扩散”这一大背景下, 转向网络外交一事对有关墨西哥外交的较为传统的理解发起挑战。
