Beschreibungen/Notizen
The campaign by the army and civilian authorities to fight the spread of venereal disease focused almost exclusively on women as the vectors of contagion. Popular magazines conveyed those contradictions by condemning female promiscuity while at the same time portraying sexuality as a "female wartime obligation" (p. 112) and valorizing women who "did their part" by "befing his Pin-up Girl" (p. 123).
