Beschreibungen/Notizen
  • The essay deals first with the decisive moment in the writing of the poet Friedrich Hölderlin: The termination of the tragedy project The death of Empedocles and the beginning of the work on a new form of poetry, the "hymns", "chants" or even "patriotic songs" This opens up a new perspective in research, the one on the choir: Hölderlin breaks the tragedy - in which there is often talk of a "choir" without it appearing - right in the middle of the first song that he actually wrote for the choir Chorus writes. The "Gesänge" are understood as a continuation of this work on the choir, which could not enter the stage in the "Trauerspiel". They are not about tragic heroes, but about the earth and streams, that is, non-human actors; In them a historical event is stated that can no longer be tied to great doers. In the last section, this concept is compared to Karin Beier's Jelinek Evening The Work / The Bus / A Fall, in which the water and the earth slowly take possession of the stage of the protagonists.
