• The Institute of Coptic Studies in Cairo, whose choir made this recording, was founded in 1954 to promote the academic study of the Coptic heritage including art, architecture, and iconography. While it is regretful that this statement continues to be true, growing interest in eastern Christianity is bound to change the current state of knowledge on Coptic chant and neighbouring musics.
