• Strauβ entend travailler au profït des visées émancipatrices modernes. Il le fait par une relecture de l'histoire du christianisme, universalisant notamment ce qui était concentré en christologie : ce qui est dit là d'un homme - Jésus - doit valoir pour l'homme comme tel. La tentative de Strauβ de fonder la liberté du sujet prendra finalement une forme post-chrétienne. On peut en outre se demander, avec Nietzsche, si elle ne fait pas l'impasse sur la facticité et la particularité, échouant du coup à assurer la liberté dans son individualité effective concrète. Strauβ intended to work for modern, emancipating aims. He did so by a new interpretation of Christian history, notably by universalizing christology : what is said about one man - Jesus- must be valid for every person. Strauβ' attempt to establish the liberty of the actor took finally a post-Christian form. Moreover, one might ask, with Nietzsche, if it did not end in deadlock with artificiality and particularity, thus failing to assure liberty in effectively concrete individuality.
