Après les pensées plus personnelles copiées par Leibniz (cf. le précédent numéro des Archives), on examine ici l'autre partie, scientifique : quelques datations possibles, confrontation de ces notes, plus allusives, avec les textes remis à Beeckman, esquisse imparfaite de nouveaux compas, absence de solution des équations du 4e degré (critique de ce qui a été dit sur les relations entre Descartes et Faulhaber, et sur l'invention de novembre 1620)... Le jeune Descartes ignore encore beaucoup, mais sa visée d'unité systématique est déjà remarquable. After more personal thoughts which were copied by Leibniz (see the preceding issue of Archives,), we begin here the other part, scientific : some possible datings, collating those notes which are more allusive with texts given to Beeckman, imperfect sketches of new compasses, no solutions of 4th degree equations (criticism of what has been said concerning relations between Descartes and Faulhaber and on the invention of November 1620). Young Descartes is not yet aware of many things but the way he is looking for a systematic unity is already worth noticing.
