Rudolph examines the Christian roots of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz's philosophy, on the basis of the conviction of the structural connection between theology, metaphysics and politics. The ecclesia universalis, which is visibilis, does not present a merely spiritualistic character, but constitutes a respublica in that it is directed towards the common good. In this context the question of the reunion of the Churches is included.
