• Vor dem Hintergrund komplexer Kanonisierungsprozesse wird der Erfolg des Werkes von Adelbert von Chamisso nachgezeichnet. Dass Chamisso heute, insbesondere dessen Lyrik, kaum noch gelesen wird, führt der Autor auf spezifische Gattungsprobleme zurück; als wichtigste Rezeptionsschranke erweist sich die Verbindung von Lyrik und Erzählung - im 19. Jh. in Form der Verserzählung noch äußerst populär. Die eminente Komplexität und den formalen Variationsreichtum von Chamissos Lyrik führt der Aufsatz anhand exemplarischer Gedichtlektüren vor. Deutlich wird hierbei nicht nur der Wandel des für Chamissos Lyrik zentralen Wechselverhältnisses von Alter und Verjüngung, sondern zugleich die sozialkritische und politische Dimension von Chamissos Texten. The article traces the reception of Adalbert von Chamisso's work against the background of complex processes of canonisation. The fact that Chamisso, and his lyric poetry in particular, is hardly read nowadays is explained by reference to specific problems of genre. The chief barrier to a positive reception in the present is the combination of lyric and narrative, whereas in the nineteenth century the Verserzählung was still very popular. The article examines individual poems in detail, and demonstrates the signal complexity and formal variety of Chamisso's lyric poetry. What emerges is not only the change in the central theme of age and rejuvenation and their reciprocal relationship, but also the political and socially critical dimension of Chamisso's works.
