Though it has been noted that beneficial effects result from parent educ programs, the efforts of res in this area have been sketchy & crude--varying greatly in conception & procedure. Thus, the evidence gathered is not cumulative nor are the conclusions consistent. It is pointed out that sound res in this area is badly needed; & by stabilizing the concepts of the res as far as such factors as technique, materials, & parental characteristics (personality, soc setting, family interaction) are concerned & by systematizing the methods used in evaluating these concepts, valuable contributions may be hoped for.
