• This symposium is presented in appreciation of Benedict R. O'G. Anderson and his works, who had been a supporter of the journal Philippine Studies: Historical and Ethnographic Viewpoints. The editorial team of the journal has been contacting possible contributors to a symposium in appreciation of the scholarship of Anderson as a present on his 80th birthday on August 26, 2016.
