A one-day symposium on Leakage Control in the Water Industry, organized by the Institution, was held at the Cavendish Conference Centre, London on 18 May 1993. With the currently sensitive issue of water main leakage receiving a great deal of attention, the symposium was arranged in order to review the current situation regarding leakage control in the UK water industry. It also aimed to explore the future direction and possible benefits from enhanced detection methods and the consequent reduction in the perceived rate of leakage from the nation's water distribution network.
