Although in Britain we are aware in principle that many of the challenges faced by educators here are familiar elsewhere, this study from Germany provides a valuable insight into one of them: the plight of young people out of school. Birgit Warzecha’s account of a project involving student teachers in the education provided for the young people in the vicinity of Hamburg’s main railway station as part of their own training, extends the discussion of initial teacher training begun in the previous article.
