  • Heavy fermion compounds can show pronounced elastic anomalies below a typical temperature T sub c where heavy quasipartile bands form. They are due to a Gruneisen parameter coupling of sound waves to these bands. The microscopic origin of elastic anomalies is investigated in the low temperature quasi particle regime and in the high temperature Kondo resonance regime. A comparison to experimental results for CeAl sub 3 , CeRu sub 2 Si sub 2 and CeCu sub 6 is made. 29 ref.--AA
