This paper describes a method for a software simulation of the communication behaviour of architectural elements (processing units, controllers, storage devices, connection units) in a parallel computer architecture. The stated method is based on a queueing network model and is directed towards the simulation of computer architectures at a high level of abstraction. It can be applied to computer architecture simulation programs and to computer simulation packages.
