With the material assistance of Allard and Ventura, Alexander Csoma de Kőrös entered the Punjab area and crossed in secret the Northern part of the country without having anyproblem with the local police on his track. He entered the town of Shahdera, where he remained eleven days. Then, he carried out his journey and reached Srinagar through the pass of Banihal. He stayed for five weeks in the capital of Cashmere before he was able to climb, together with four other men, the high Himalayan platform up to the Zoji pass. That means up to the gateway to Ladakh, which they reached on the 23rd of May 1822.
Grâce à l’aide matérielle d’Allard et Ventura, Alexandre Csoma de Kőrös parvient jusqu’à Shahdera, après un voyage clandestin à travers le Nord du Pendjab. Il y reste onze jours, puis repart pour le Cachemire, qu’il atteint par le col de Banihal et Srinagar. Après cinq semaines, il quitte cette ville en la compagnie de quatre personnes et entreprend de monter jusqu’au col de Zodji, qui est la porte du Ladakh, où il parvient vers le 23 mai 1822.
