• "And there was clearly a united front of science, art, literature, life, full of new, yet unknown values ​​of the future." Thus in 1977, conversing with Bengt Jangfeldt, Roman Jakobson recounts his student years spent in an "epoch of cataclysms" from which all fields of knowledge are overwhelmed with the structures of Europe and the whole world. The existential and scientific Bildung of Roman Jakobson finds in this humus of tumultuous unhinging and propulsive transformation of contents and boundaries of the episteme its active and participatory purpose. During his long and very active life through the twentieth century, Roman Osipovi? he will never renounce the curious exploration of the neighboring horizons in the field of sciences and the arts in the constant pursuit of a "united front" of intents with common roots. From here he took young moves and from here he continues in maturity and old age. The reflection on the language is therefore generated in Jakobson thanks to the close trade with the activity of his contemporary poets and artists and to the attention paid to what happens in the field of sciences; in this fruitful osmosis between practices and theoretical discussions concerning fields of knowledge, the boundaries between Geisteswissenschaften and Naturwissenschaften are visible yes but at the same time elastic and porous. For the Russian scholar this is not only a convinced awareness but a choice of life, a habitus to which he has always remained faithful in all the stages of his intellectual life. This habitus translates into the long and patient work of weaving networks of relationships between environments and people of different disciplinary origins, in its active participation in research initiatives and projects promoted within innumerable varied cultural institutions.
