• This dossier on immigration in Africa mainly focuses on migration movements within Africa itself. It shows data on refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons (IDPs) as well as on Africa's population of concern. In the attempt to leave Africa, migrants undertake deadly sea routes, such as the Atlantic route to reach the Canary Islands, and the Mediterranean route to reach South Europe.
