Apollo Gardens : Facing the Asylum, St. George's Fields, October 25, 1787, Mr. Claggett presuming and conceiving no Institution so likely to succeed and flourish as that founded on the permanent Basis of Piety and Benevolence, hath determined to dedicate the first Fruits of his Labours and Undertaking to the Assistance of the widow and daughter of the late Mr. Michael Arne. A Man whose professional Abilities and Excellencies will ever be held in high Estimation, and remembered with Delight by all those who had the Pleasure of being acquainted therewith, therefore it is earnestly requested such Persons will evince their Taste and Liberality in paying a Tribute to departed Merit, by taking the Relicts and Offspring of his Love under their immediate Protection On Thursday, November 22, will be performed at the above Place, for the benefit of Mrs. and Miss Arne, The favourite oratorio of Judith. Composed by the late Dr. Arne, With a double band and full chorusses, Consisting of some of the first performers, vocal and instrumental, The Particulars of which will be announced in the Papers Two or Three Days previous to the Performance. N. B. An occasional poetical address will be delivered on this Night only, Written and to be spoken by Mr. Claggett. To prevent Inconvenience to the Nobility and Gentry, only one thousand Tickets will be issued, which is two hundred less than the Room will hold; which Room is universally acknowledged to be the First in this Kingdom for Elegance, Novelty, and Design. Tickets five shillings each, to be had at the gardens, and at most of the principal Music Shops in Town. The General Subscription to the orchestra and room is now opened on the most liberal Terms. Sans Souci : Mr. Dibdin's eighth night. By the authority of the Right Hon. the Lord Chamberlain, On Tuesday, October 29, 1793, And on every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, will be presented, at Sans Souci, in the Strand, An entirely new Entertainment, called Castles in the air. The Extent and Variety of this Subject preclude all Possibility of particularly enumerating those Objects which it embraces. Among an incredible Number of others, Patriotism, Faction, Envy, Candour, Reasonable Pleasure, Philanthropy, Fame, Matrimony, Constancy, Glory, Puffing, Credulity, Singularity, Music, Hunting, Officiousness, Simplicity, Truth, Frugality, Popularity, and Loyalty will be occasionally touched upon. The songs will come in the following Succession. Part I. Castles in the Air, Nappy, The Tear of Sensibility, No Good without an Exception, Taffy and the Birds, Tack and Half Tack, and the Village Wedding. Part. II. The Token, The Soldier's Funeral, The Whistling Ploughman, The Merry Archers, Tom Tackle, The Jolly Ringers, and the Power of Music. Part III. Jack's Fidelity, The Watchman, The Hare Hunt, Father and Mother and Suke, The Auctioneer, and the Finale. The whole is written and composed, and will be spoken, sung, and accompanied by Mr. Dibdin, Under whose Directions several striking and novel Effects are introduced into his celebrated Instrument, made by Mr. Hancock. Colonnade and Bowers 5s. Area 3s. Gallery 2s. The Doors will be opened at 7 O'Clock, and the Performance begin at eight.
