• An overview on high‐power fiber lasers and amplifiers is presented. The article includes a brief review of the fiber laser history, followed by the design rules of double‐cladding fibers for power scaling of the fiber lasers. Typical fiber laser systems, including pump configurations, resonator structures, and system layouts, are explained. Detailed information on key components and wavelength ranges are discussed. It covers high‐power fiber lasers operating at both continuous wave and pulsed modes, including a variety of pulsed systems ranging from actively mode‐locked lasers to passively mode‐locked lasers with pulse durations from femtoseconds to nanoseconds.
