• After a short introduction and description of particular features of the equipment used, attention is centered on applications. Solids, surfaces, and solutions have been studied by photoacoustic spectroscopy; recent work is quoted. Gas‐phase investigations are discussed with emphasis on trace gas detection. Especially, applications in plant physiology and microbiology are considered.
