• Industry and laboratory manufacturing procedures of oriented strand board (OSB) are described with emphases on the wood drying, adhesive application, matting, hot‐press curing, and post‐curing steps based on open literature, invited lectures of industry experts, and experiences obtained in numerous plant visits. Industrially available, various phenol‐formaldehyde (PF) and isocyanate resin adhesives are described regarding their methods of application, curing properties, and potential board performance differences. A publication on laboratory OSB manufacturing and testing carried out with experimental PF resole resins modified with post‐added urea is included to allow readers to obtain more realistic relationships between the resin properties and amount of materials that go into board making and the resultant board performance properties.
