• For over 100 years the practice of cell culture has been largely done in two‐dimensional monolayers. More recently, it has been recognised that cells grown in this manner do not express their normal in vivo phenotypes. Accordingly, a number of three‐dimensional cell culture technologies have been developed to address this problem. One of these technologies, the rotating wall vessel, or Rotary Cell Culture System™, as it is known commercially, is described in this chapter.
