Abstract
Reactive arthritis caused by yersinia infection is more frequent than supposed, which is caused by two facts: It starts when the intestinal infection is terminated. IgM antibodies disappear very quickly and parallel the agglutination reactions as well. In the immunoblot with virulence-associated plasmids as antigen specific antibodies of the different immunoglobulin classes are determined. By these methods the former supposition can be confirmed that arthritis is observed only together with IgA-antibodies, which normally persist not longer than a year. So they are a specific diagnostic criterion. In contrary IgG antibodies may circulate permanently, they only indicate a former infection.
