• An abstract of a study on the periodontal disease in community-dwelling people over the age of 80 years by Holm-Pedersen et al is presented. The findings of the study document the substantial and ongoing impact of periodontal disease in a sample of generally healthy, community-dwelling older adults and underscore the importance of continued periodontal disease prevention and treatment in the oldest-old.
