  • Biodiesel and bioethanol are the promising alternate for the diesel and petrol fuel. Though some European nation uses 100% biodiesel as fuel, the biodiesel production is still a batch process and water wash is still the convenient method to wash crude biodiesel after transesterification. This article discusses about the alternate method of washing filtration, which is dry wash. The research is focused on finding the appropriate filter membrane, pore size, molecular weight cutoff ratio (MWCO) for successful filtration of crude biodiesel to overcome the failure of the previous researches and finds that the reverse osmosis membrane is the appropriate one based on molecular size analysis. Though there has been experiments conducted using micro, ultra and nano filtration of the same, this research is based on reverse osmosis. A study on the pressure and velocity has been investigated using CFD software for the fabrication of filter element. The ultimate objective is to make filtration possible to replace water wash and to reduce the viscosity of the produced biodiesel by removing the suspended molecules by filtration technology and to meet the international standard of biodiesel.
