• This paper mainly illustrates how could the design and art major create redesign products featuring various trans-boundary elements, like the art, technology, ecology, humanity and material character, in the multi-disciplinary and trans-boundary historical background. According to the case analysis, it elaborates how to deduce new design products featuring the aesthetic experience, classic succession and spiritual expression in the traditional arts. In this paper, teaching results of the lacquer art design course of Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai are discussed. Brand new design products can be designed through the multi-disciplinary interaction, including arts, design, crafts, high-tech and industrial products, etc. These design products are mainly created and produced by focusing on the theme of eco-environment, arts, diversified cooperation, and renaissance of traditional art. This paper mainly expounds the design of innovative products based on trans-boundary characteristics of the traditional arts, for instance, the aesthetic orientation in the pursuit of humanistic spirit, convenience of high-tech, selectivity of environment and eco-material, and guidance of scientific methods. The trans-boundary and diversified design produces products with new visual effect, and such products conforms to the times, with stronger vitality. Just like the case illustrated in this paper: study the cases of works applying the trans-boundary design, like bamboo materials in eco-environment, lacquer art craft of industrial arts, functions of sports products, etc. among which the relation between bicycles and human life; relation among several materials, like bamboos, paints and metal; relation among the aesthetics of several materials and meaning of innovative design; relation between the reproduction and renaissance of arts and traditional crafts; relation between idea creation and trans-boundary; and relation between conceptual design and product implementation. In addition, the humanistic spirit of scientific design art in the overall frame of traditional Chinese culture is discussed, and combining the present art and design environment, the beauty of lacquer materials and craft is reflected in the newly-designed works through integrating the lacquer art, traditional materials and new expression of traditional crafts under the guidance of classical painting theories. Besides, innovative design of lacquer art products is accomplished, for reflecting the communality pursued by humanistic spirit, aesthetic sentiment, texture pursuit, life performance, intention expression and rhythmic vitality.
