• The aim of this chapter is to describe the current use of fluorescence in gynecologic surgery. The chapter focuses on indocyanine green (ICG) as the most frequently utilized dye and delineates its use by disease and by application technique; the areas covered include both oncologic and benign gynecologic applications, as well as how fluorescence imaging can improve identification of anatomical structures, thus augmenting intraoperative navigation. The most frequently used dosage and application methods are described, providing guidance on surgical scenarios benefiting from visual information amplified by fluorescence use. Improvement in disease-specific surgical outcomes due to fluorescence enhancement is not studied well and clinical evidence is included when pertinent.
