  • The dynamics of an asymmetric three-layer spherical shell with a discrete-symmetric lightweight rib-reinforced filler under a concentrated impact on its top was studied. Reinforcing ribs are located along the lines of the main curvatures and connect the load-bearing layers made of different materials. The distances between the reinforcing ribs are much larger than the dimensions of their cross sections. In such structures, a stress–strain state is characterized by significant displacement and stress gradients under dynamic loads. In this case, it is advisable to apply the theory of layered shells using independent hypotheses for each layer. The problem’s solution is obtained using the theory of shells and rods based on the Timoshenko shear model. The variational principle of Hamilton–Ostrogradsky stationarity is used to derive the equations of oscillations of a three-layer non-homogeneous structure. The light filler between the load-bearing layers and the reinforcing ribs significantly complicates the problem. The finite element method is applied to study the dynamics of three-layer asymmetric spherical shells made of different materials, and new mechanical effects are discussed.
