  • Personality of a person is governed by his emotions. Dominance, Valence and Arousal are the three dimensions of Emotions and are analysed to know individual differences. There have been few attempts to uncover the factors of Dominance-Submissiveness, and little is known about how it varies among persons. In order to overcome both of these concerns, this study is used to develop the Dominance-Submissiveness predisposition Questionnaire (DSPS), an estimate of individual differences in the importance of several qualities. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was performed on first set of 189 items (N = 42). Following this study, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed using a refined 48-item scale on a second sample (N = 43). A five-factor structure was analysed using this technique, and the results showed that the model fit was good (CFI = 0.75, RSMEA = 0.068). The five sub-scales of dominance-submissiveness predisposition represented by the factors are as follows: Emotional and Working on The Front Line; Defensiveness; Initiative and Conformity to Societal Conventions; Believe on Self Abilities; and Control Over Self & Emotions. All the sub-scales indicated high internal consistency and reliability. Stating construct validity, each sub-scale also showed a distinctive correlation with other dimensions assessing personality characteristics, emotions, and objectives. Overall, the results indicate that the DSPS is a viable and trustworthy tool for evaluating individual differences in terms of Dominance-Submissiveness.
