• It is necessary to design a future ABS strategy that recognizes the results of research and promotes commercialization of the same at the same time ensuring sustainability of the resources. The present paper argues for developing innovative models of ABS based on the requirements of the community and the states implementing the same with an overarching vision for promoting the conservation and sustainable utilization of resources.
