• Having previously dealt with the elements, the voluntariness, the sources of morality as well as the standard of morality of actions and having also familiarised ourselves with the two basic kinds of killing actions, this chapter applies these findings to the guiding question of this book, namely the (im)permissibility of the killing of human beings. It develops a general ethics of killing human beings and outlines the general ethical limits of dealing with our own lives and the lives of other human beings. As such, it answers the questions under which conditions, if any, it is morally permissible to perform (a) an essential killing action and (b) an accidental killing action.
