Beschreibungen/Notizen
Melanocytic, germ cell, trophoblastic, lymphoid, and myeloid tumors are typically encountered in other organs but may rarely involve the uterine cervix. These neoplasms can be diagnostically challenging as they closely mimic primary cervical carcinomas radiologically, clinically, and/or histologically. The experience of the pathologist, a high index of suspicion, pertinent clinical history, careful pathologic examination, and appropriate ancillary studies are essential in arriving at the correct diagnosis. This chapter summarizes definitions, key macroscopic, histologic and cytologic features, characteristic immunoprofiles and main disease entities in the differential diagnosis of melanocytic, germ cell, trophoblastic, lymphoid, and myeloid tumors of the uterine cervix.
