• This chapter highlights the importance of ‘knowledge’ as a factor in the governance of migration and diversity. It shows that from a positivist perspective, knowledge is seen as a positive condition for governance mainstreaming. Having good data on migration and migrants, and knowledge on migratory and integration processes and on how to manage these processes, is seen as a prerequisite for having policies that help to solve problems and prevent problem alienation.
